Invisalign® - The Clear Choice for College Kids

March 25, 2016

You've probably wanted straighter teeth for your child for a while, but metal braces are not an option you’re considering. That’s why we’re proud to provide Invisalign®, which offers the convenience and flexibility to get a straighter smile without the hassle.

Three major benefits of Invisalign include:

  1. More scheduling flexibility. Invisalign only requires office visits every 12 weeks (instead of 6-8 with traditional braces), so if your child is away from home for extended periods of time it may be a good option.
  2. Aligners come out when you need them to. Aligners can be removed when eating and brushing for better dental hygiene.
  3. It’s safer. Invisalign allows your child to continue wearing aligners without having to worry about any sharp brackets cutting their mouth. Further, if a mouthguard is needed for sports it will fit over the aligners.

You may be somewhat familiar with how the Invisalign® treatment works, but we’d like to take you through each step of the treatment process, from consultation to confident smile:

1) Talk to Drs. Morrone and Kaye
Choosing the right doctor and the right treatment plan is essential. Keep in mind that not all orthodontists and dentists have the same highly specialized training as Drs. Morrone and Kaye do.

2) A Customized Treatment Plan is Created

The doctor will take x-rays, pictures and digital scans of your child’s teeth, which Invisalign will use to create a digital 3-D image. From these images Drs. Morrone and Kaye will map out a precise treatment plan and the approximate length of treatment.

3) Receive Your Custom Aligners Based On Your Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on the treatment plan, a series of custom-made, clear aligners is then created. These aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic that won't irritate the cheeks and gums like traditional metal braces often do.

4) Wear a New Aligner Every Two Weeks

Approximately every two weeks, your child will begin wearing a new set of aligners, advancing them to the next stage of your treatment. The aligners should be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day, throughout treatment. Drs. Morrone and Kaye can also prescribe a newer appliance called Acceledent, which has been shown to dramatically decrease treatment time.

5) Reveal Your New Smile & Keep It Looking Great

Once treatment is complete, we’ll need to protect that beautiful new smile. Drs. Morrone and Kaye will recommend the ideal retainers to keep your child’s teeth in their new position.

Morrone & Kaye Orthodontics has locations in Moorestown and Mount Holly, New Jersey, and serves the surrounding towns of Mount Laurel, Cherry Hill, Cinnaminson, Delran, Lumberton, Burlington Township, Eastampton, Fort Dix and McGuire AirForce Base.
